What is the Kurumbale Community currently doing for the environment and the people? Here an overview:

01. Plant Trees

For each item purchased a tree is planted in a deforested country generating decent employment for local villagers. Deforestation is the main climate change cause and that’s why Kurumbale donates to the Eden Reforestation Projects organization.

02. Reduce Waste

• Durable Items made with high-quality materials which designed to last longer. For example, all T-Shirts in the Store are premium quality T-Shirts, which fabric weight 180 g/m² (5.31 oz/yd²) for the Unisex-Man Pattern and 155 g/m² (4.57 oz/yd²) for the Woman Pattern. High-quality clothing reduces the wear of the garment, increasing its lifespan and, consequently, the textile waste.
• Eco Packaging called also Plastic-Free Packaging is used. The items are shipped inside biodegradable mailers.
• Reusable Bottles, which are crucial to reduce the use of plastic bottles.
• Sustainable Font. You will notice a beautiful and peculiar titles font around Kurumable which reduces ink by 33% and, as a result, the cartridges used.

04. Preserve Ecosystems

• Organic Certified Cotton is used instead of regular cotton when it is possible. Organic Cotton reduces significantly the environmental impact, avoiding toxins and controlling the fertilizers used.
• Water-Based Certified Inks without toxins are the only inks used.
• Ecosystems Recovery by planting trees in deforested areas the rainfall patterns, the water purity and the soil quality are restored.

06. Help People

• Fare Trade Certified Items are used when it is possible, so we are sure that everyone who participate in the production chain have a decent salary and working conditions.
• Decent Employment Generation for local villagers by planting trees in deforested areas.
• Poverty and Risk of Slavery Reduction. Planting Trees restores the land quality and consequently stabilizes the farms, growing the local economies.

07. Participate in the Ethical Finance

Kurumbale partners with the bank Banca Etica in order to avoid any participation in projects that harm the people and the environment. With Banca Etica, we are sure that people’s savings are NEVER used to finance deforestation, contamination or unethical projects, just because they are more profitable.
